Pregnancy related Pelvic Girdle Pain

Kayleigh Durrell

Pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy is more common than people often realise, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating when it starts to affect your day-to-day life. It can show up as discomfort around the front of the pelvis, the hips, or even the lower back, and simple things like walking, turning in bed, or getting dressed can suddenly feel much harder than they should.

During pregnancy, your body is going through a lot of change in a relatively short space of time. Hormonal shifts, postural changes, and the growing weight of your baby can all place extra strain on the pelvis and surrounding muscles. Sometimes the body adapts smoothly, and sometimes it needs a bit of support along the way.

My approach is always gentle, calm, and tailored to how you’re feeling on the day. I use a combination of soft tissue work, gentle joint techniques, and where appropriate, cranial approaches to help ease tension and support better movement. Treatment is always adapted so you feel comfortable and supported throughout.

It’s not just about reducing discomfort, but about helping you feel more at ease in your body as it changes. I also take time to talk through simple, practical ways to manage symptoms at home, whether that’s positions to avoid, ways to move more comfortably, or small adjustments to your daily routine.

Pregnancy can be a really special time, but it’s okay if it doesn’t always feel easy. The aim is to support you through it-gently, safely, and at your own pace.
